Atoms in a crystal lattice have measurable vibrational modes. Quartz can convert mechanical stress into electrical charge and electrical input into mechanical motion—the piezoelectric effect used in oscillators and frequency-control devices. But a specimen does not possess one universal “healing frequency” in hertz. Its resonances depend on material, dimensions, cut, temperature and how it is driven.
